I’m a principal software specialist for a medical equipment manufacturing company. Our head office is in Minneapolis, but we have branches in 149 countries worldwide. We have equipment in the market for almost all departments, such as diabetic, spine, cardio, and gastro. We’re one of the world’s leading medical equipment manufacturers.

We did another project for cardiac management, which was a training simulation for a microimplant. It was the first XR project using HoloLens, and we had to set up a new structure and team for development.

This is our third project with Treeview; we have a product launch happening in September. Our latest project was CAD models of the devices, which are engineering models.

We predominantly communicate with three teammates, but they have seven people on the team. We have weekly calls with Gonzalo (Software Engineer) and Horacio (Founder & CEO). We can also contact the 3D development team. When we need clarification from them, we call Raimundo (Technical Artist).

We searched online and gathered information about several vendors out of Clutch. Based on the reviews we collected, we shortlisted 10 companies. At the time, Treeview was in fourth place, but now they’ve gone up to second or third. Out of the 10 companies, we shortlisted the last three.

The project cost depends on its complexity. The latest project for spine therapy was around $85,000 in the beginning. However, we were asked by the SMEs and doctors to include specific animations to explain the procedure more clearly, so we accommodated the development and had to spend more on resources. We submitted a change request, and the extra cost was $4,500.

We’re close to completing the third project in April 2024. On average, we take six months per project, so we’ve been with them for a year and a half.

Nobody knew the outcome or how much impact it would make. Treeview has churned out an application that has brought in audible amazement from doctors and medical professionals.

During the initial two projects, Treeview was flexible and accommodating. There was no interference from our side unless there were heavy changes. Nonetheless, they delivered on time, and we never found issues with their timeline.

We mainly communicate with Gonzalo; he’s our primary contact. We usually reach out to him if we need any clarification or information. Any immediate information should be passed on to him. We typically don’t wait for the weekly call to pass the information to Gonzalo.

They have a robust 3D team that understands our requirements. I have a 3D animation background, and I’ve worked on AR applications for engineering companies. Therefore, I understand the team's skill set and know when their efforts are nominal or overshooting. They provide all the information we want and understand the concepts, even if it’s the first time they’re doing medical applications.

No, I haven’t seen any need for improvements. We’ve been getting all the inputs of whatever we need on time.

The mutual learning for both of us is that the visualization has to be more robust. Visualizing a medical procedure is very complex because it’s organic matter, and we both got stuck at some stages. We couldn’t visualize the steps before starting the course of the phase. We then realized the bottleneck and what we had to clear.

I’m the product director for a pharmaceutical company based in Germany. I’m in a global position overseeing digital product development.

We needed to build a product from scratch.

Treeview developed an XR application for the App Store. The platform was an education app. They created the product on Unity for extended reality purposes. Users can turn on the camera and experience their disease in a 3D room.

We talked regularly with three teammates, including someone responsible for tech, someone responsible for product development, and someone responsible for product design and content. The extended team had 5–6 people in total.

They were upfront, honest, and straightforward. If they didn’t understand something or something needed more work, Treeview’s team was open and made everything clear.

Som may think working with a boutique studio could be challenging. I’ve found that it’s not about how many people are in the company but rather how they manage the work and how efficient the team is.

I’m the director of PR and clinical research at VisionweaRx, a VR group developing diagnostic systems within the eyecare space.

As an eyecare provider (ECP), I’ve seen many things move into technology since the COVID-19 pandemic. In the area of learning disabilities and dyslexia, children were experiencing many challenges in the traditional paper testing systems, according to time spent and stress factors.

Treeview provides us with AR and VR development. They've developed a platform that allows us to test children and diagnose dyslexia. First, we provided the team with the physical paper-based test, and the whole team sat through it to see how it worked. We also gave them test material, documentation, and processes. From there, they started developing the test in the VR space.

Initially, I worked with Horacio (Founder & Managing Director); he helped us with the initial game plan and execution. Since the execution stage started, we've worked directly with the team. Our main point of contact is Gonzalo (Software Engineer), who is the head of development, and we also have UI/UX specialists I don't directly work with.

We connected with them through another company whose CEO had built virtual try-on systems in the AR space. They'd used Treeview, and the team was able to deliver accurately. I connected with this other company to use their software within my practice. From there, the CEO of this company and I started brainstorming, and our project developed into the dyslexia test idea. Using Treeview was a logical step for this project, as they were already building the try-on systems.

We've spent about $20,000.

We started working with them in January 2021, and the physical implementation began in January 2022. Our partnership is ongoing.

Thanks to Treeview's work, we can now accurately diagnose dyslexia within a VR system for the first time ever. Previously, paper-based tests would take up to eight hours, and with this system, we can do it within one hour. Moreover, the virtual space has given us so much more information than before, and it makes the process a lot more fun for children.

Before working with them, I had never met a company in the creative space that wasn't late for deadlines. We've been incredibly chuffed with Treeview because they always deliver on time if we set a deadline. Often, they finish early and make sure they sort out glitches before they deliver, so their project management is just incredible. They've never been late, and their delivery matches their promises, so their project management is incredible.

I'm impressed by their incredible team. Any business is as successful as their weakest link, and at Treeview, they have a group of people who know what they're doing and play to their own strengths. Their UI/UX designers are specialized, and we see it in their work. A strong project manager like Horacio, who can drive a thought and pull it across to someone else, is also very valuable.

While I'm happy to give constructive criticism, I don't have any for Treeview — I've never had any problems.

My advice is that you don't have to be scared of going into a project like this. Don't worry if you don't understand how it will pan out because Treeview can take an idea and implement it successfully. They'll ask the correct questions to ensure that the product from your idea comes together. Many people are scared to take a leap because they've had situations where they haven't gotten what they expected. However, taking that risk with Treeview is worth it.
