I’m the director of Bboxx.ca Inc., an IT consulting company.

We hired Otrofy for application development. We aimed to create a secure marketplace that provides sellers and buyers extra security and features regarding communication, negotiation, payment, and shipping. The unique part of our app is that we have a third-party mediator to help conduct sales.

We hired Otrofy to start with an MVP, and we've completed the MVP phase and prototyping phase. The mobile application will be available for iOS and Android. Their team was responsible for UX/UI design and backend development. Otrofy created features like user accounts, basic MIUI System Ads (MSA), and some payment functionality.

We worked with six individuals from Otrofy; this included developers, a designer, and managers.

We found Otrofy on Upwork. We reached out to several developers and conducted interviews with them. Otrofy stood out among those other companies. They seemed to have great personalities, and we were impressed with their portfolio of work. Otrofy outlined what we could expect throughout the engagement and was extremely articulate in their presentation.

We spent about $37,000 CAD (approximately $27,000 USD).

We worked together between July–September 2023.

Otrofy was awesome to work with, and they delivered on all of our expectations. Otrofy’s quality of work was extremely high; we don’t think the engagement could have gone better.

They were highly communicative and supplied us with all the information we needed. They delivered ahead of deadlines, gave us clear expectations, and were transparent. We communicated via Zoom and used Trello for project management.

Sentidant AG engaged Otrofy to develop both the mobile app UX/UI and the backend infrastructure for Sentidant ONE, our Swiss-engineered emotionally intelligent smartwatch.

We now have a fully designed app interface that excites both potential investors and our test users.

Otrofy was tasked with transforming our concept into a functional web application. This involved taking our detailed specifications and UI/UX designs and bringing them to life. The project was initially planned for a 3-month timeline, but due to Anna's collaborative approach, it was split into two stages; 2-month MVP and a later full-scale application.

The evolution of the project.

The EPIPHANY Engine Beta App is nothing short of a revelation. As a first stage beta, it has already surpassed expectations, delivering a unique and innovative platform that is set to revolutionize the way we process information. The app’s design is intuitive and user-friendly, allow us to navigate through the complex components of the EPIPHANY Engine, providing a different and immersive user experience.

The ability to deliver on a complex and counter-intuitive vision is one few have the open mind and courage to confidently undertake and overdeliver. They support the creator, the process and the passion that fuels the endeavour.

I’m the CTO of Chorus Wellness, Inc., a Silicon Valley startup focused on meditation and core sleep.

We hired them to help us develop an iPhone application. We had previously built another iPhone app using a different technology. Although the app was okay, it wasn’t at the quality level we hoped for. Then, we created a sleep app with a different contractor who did a bad job. We brought on Otrofy to clean up the sleep app.

Otrofy rebuilt our iPhone app from scratch using Swift, SwiftUI, and iPhone and iPad applications. They created various iterations and helped design the app using Figma. We provided them with designs, and Otrofy helped to improve them.

My main points of contact at Otrofy were Serge (CEO & Co-Founder) and his wife.

We found them through Upwork. I interviewed Serge, and we looked at some code together. From that interview, I could tell that he really knew what he was doing, so we decided to work with Otrofy and bring in Serge as a full-time contractor.

We spent about $83,000 with Otrofy.

We worked with them from January–December 2022.

Otrofy did a great job of turning the project around. The app is structured for business users, so it’s not a consumer app. Our main metric for success is that we now have over 50 business partners, which is really good. When we sell to businesses, we aim for a 30% adoption rate, which the app accomplishes. Our retention rate for those users is 50%.

They were good at project management. In terms of on-time delivery, Otrofy was incredibly reliable. They worked week by week, trying to deliver as much as possible within that timeframe, so we didn’t have specific third-party deadlines. Still, Otrofy never missed an internal deadline.

I was impressed with the high-quality product Otrofy built, which set them apart from other providers. Many companies can build a React Native product that looks good very quickly. However, when users start using it, it’s not as good as it looked on the surface. Meanwhile, Otrofy built a native product that works the way it looks — it looks amazing.

The one thing we could have improved in our partnership was doing more upfront planning and requirements review. This issue isn’t something Otrofy did wrong; as a team, we needed to take a step back and confirm the requirements. Most of this is on my co-fonder and me because we were trying to move quickly, and sometimes we had different ideas than what we communicated.

Give Otrofy a chance to give you some feedback. Companies that hire agencies or contracting firms often tell them what to do and don’t really listen to their feedback. We got excellent feedback from Otrofy, so I advise taking some extra time to listen to what they have to say because they might really help the product.
