I'm a product manager at a renewable energy solutions company.

We needed help with UI/UX design.

We initially provided Neuron with a kickoff document where we defined the team and the significant views we wanted to be converted into the new design. We also provided some background on the features and functionality of our products.

We worked with four team members, including Ryan, a partner at Neuron; Matt, their creative director; and two designers.

I wasn't involved in the initial hiring process.

We spent between $200,000–$900,000.

We worked together from August 2024–February 2025. Although we still contact Neuron for consulting.

We don't have any concrete results yet since we're currently in the implementation phase, but Neuron's designs looked great, and our clients were impressed with them when we shared the design results. Neuron helped us create a UI that was easier to use independently without much training.

Overall, the team was very communicative, timely, and organized. We gave Neuron a lot of feedback in sessions, and they worked through everything without needing reminders. We used Figma to review the design work, communicated using Slack, and leveraged Google Docs.

Neuron's design skills were impressive. The team was experienced with Figma and created a user-friendly design system; they were user-oriented developers implementing the designs.

It was hard to keep up with what reviews we still needed to do at a certain point versus what Neuron was editing. We had a lot of loose threads and decisions to come back to.

Spend time before the project begins to document your system definitions for different user types and experiences. Expect to spend a lot of time to get the most out of the design project. Neuron can only help so much, but you must also be engaged.

I’m an executive of SmarterD. We're in the IT security management and enterprise software space.

We were trying to recreate our UX and modernize our platform. We wanted to bring it to the latest look and feel.

We talked Neuron through what we were looking for and explained the different personas our product had. We gave Neuron access to the product and walked them through how it would be used. The team played with the product and developed a complete redesign and design system, delivering the final output in Figma.

I worked with Ryan (UX Lead & Founding Partner) and Mark (Director of Strategy). Mark led the team from a management perspective, and Oleksandr (Senior UX Designer) helped with the detailed work.

We searched online for several companies and came across Neuron. We looked at their previous work and reached out to the team. We initially met with Ryan and had chemistry. He came across well and made us feel comfortable. Plus, we're located in the San Francisco Bay Area, and Neuron is also in San Francisco. We also liked that the team had worked with several other startups and understood the culture.

We spent around $35,000–$37,000.

We worked with Neuron from April–May 2024.

We were really impressed with the design system delivered by Neuron. The speed to market was very critical for us because we’re a product company, and customers were complaining about our UX design. We wanted a quick turnaround, and Neuron did a fabulous job. Additionally, Neuron took minimal of our time, which was significant because we didn't need to spend much time with the team to make the project happen, showcasing Neuron's amount of experience in creating this kind of design system. Neuron's work quality also showcased their experience because they knew what they were doing and demonstrated their professionalism from beginning to end. The team has good people, and I had no issues working with them. Starting from their leader, Ryan, and going through the chain of teammates, all came together very well to deliver the product in a short period of time and create value.

Neuron didn't take too much of our time and met the aggressive deadline we gave them of six weeks. The team was able to get the input they needed. Neuron was proactive in our Zoom meetings and then returned with the output. We didn't spend too much time with the team, and they understood our system, our target market, and our user personas, which was the reason they could complete the project in such a short period of time.

Mark was exceptional. He was outstanding in the way he coordinated the entire project. He presented the project's output and drove us through the process. Mark was always there to support us while we implemented the design and answered our questions.

Our chemistry with Neuron was impressive and mattered to us; that was everything to the project's success. Neuron was very meticulous in fulfilling the scope of work. The team had the perfect combination of experience, work and output quality, and speed.

I can't think of anything Neuron could improve—they did everything they said they would.

Making a product work is a two-way street. If you give them the correct input and walk them through the details, you can get something done with them.

I'm a product designer at an energy equipment manufacturer.

We needed UI/UX design support with the aim of having an elevated skill set in this area.

Neuron has provided two UI/UX designers who work on our design projects. We initially started working with Michelle (UX Lead) and went through an onboarding process so she could become familiar with our systems and designs. After the short onboarding, she started working on product requests, primarily using Figma.

We work with two teammates from Neuron.

We've spent between $50,000–$100,000 on this project.

We began working with Neuron in April 2024, and our engagement is ongoing.

Having two embedded designers from Neuron has made our design work much quicker and increased quality.

I want to highlight Michelles's work.

Neuron's team has extremely deep knowledge of UI/UX design and is very thorough and detail-oriented. The team has leveled up our design work and communication with the engineering team.

I haven't noticed any areas for improvement in the team.

I suggest hiring Neuron.

I'm the head of product at a nonprofit association whose mandate is to promote the development of the polymer ecosystem and other Web3 technologies. I work in the capacity of assisting with product development.

We needed help with the overall UX of our onboarding flow. We didn't have the in-house capability to create UX for blockchain and Web3 technologies and wanted to rely on the expertise of an external service provider.

Initially, we had a brief contract negotiation with Neuron and the scoping process. Once the contract was signed, we had a kick-off session, and Neuron helped validate the user personas we already had, which were 1–2. This was a very small scoped project by design, and the team used Figma.

We worked with Mark (Director of Strategy) and Ika (Senior UX Designer).

We spent approximately $10,000.

We worked with Neuron from April–May 2024. The engagement was two weeks long.

We're currently implementing Neuron's changes and expect to go live in a month. I was very pleased with Neuron's thoroughness in approaching the work. The team conducted a detailed analysis of our current onboarding flow across all devices and channels of web and mobile browsers on different systems. Neuron ensured that the entire end-to-end onboarding flow was considered when making the design recommendations without leaving empty journeys. The team considered every angle of our user journey, and there was a logical next step for all users entering the onboarding flow. We were happy with the result.

I want to shout out Mark and Ika's work. They did a fantastic job and were easy to work with.

Neuron had a very good grasp of UX patterns in general. Our project had a tight scope and didn't require large studies or discovery. Onboarding is a very well-known process, and Neuron applied the principles they had experienced to our unique situation. Neuron's understanding of common UX patterns and how to implement those learnings in a new setting for our ecosystem was their biggest strength. The team implemented good UX practices within our constraints for this Web3 project.

I can't think of anything Neuron could improve.

First and foremost, I recommend having a teammate within your company who can work with Figma because it's the tool of choice for many UX professionals. You'll get the most value if you use or can navigate the tool Neuron is most comfortable with. My second recommendation is to have a clear understanding of your goal. Be very specific about the outcome that you'd like to achieve instead of describing general problems.

I’m the VP of Global Digital for Enstall. Our company produces and sells mounting systems for solar installations, which are the systems that put solar panels on roofs. We’re active in the US and Europe with various business units and a mother company that must be aligned.

We wanted to make installers’ lives easier through our digital services. We aimed to launch a new digital platform that would help installers manage all the phases of a solar project, including design, sales, and installation.

Neuron has designed our new digital platform for solar installers from scratch using Figma. They’ve researched and analyzed the competitive landscape to understand the tools installers use today and how we could combine or improve those.

We work with two key people, but we’ve been up to five teammates during busy periods.

I searched on Google for a UI/UX design boutique agency in the Bay area because one of our primary business units is located there. After I found them, I read their reviews on Clutch.

We’ve spent between $500,000–$1 million.

We began working with them in January 2023, and our relationship is ongoing. However, the engagement is almost finished because we launched the big project in April 2024.

We don’t know the business results yet because we just launched, but the first signals are great. The installer community has received the project well, so Neuron’s results have been excellent.

They’re the type of supplier that sometimes makes you feel guilty because you don’t perform as well as they do. Neuron always keeps their word and delivers on time, so they lead by example.

Matt (UX Lead & Creative Director) and Michelle (UX Lead) have been instrumental. They’ve really understood our company, market, and most of all, our customers. They needed to know the customers’ pain points and needs to address them, which meant understanding their lives, which is quite complex. Overall, they’ve done an excellent job understanding the customers and stakeholders in our company.

Their dedication is impressive. Neuron is truly part of our team; they don’t feel like an outside agency delivering an assignment. They’re always on top of things, working with the developers, and ensuring it’s easy to implement their work.

I really have to look for something because we’ve been very happy, but sometimes they could be less polite. Sometimes we make mistakes or don’t do things the way we should. Since they’re the experts, they know how it should be done. They speak their minds when we’re about to make mistakes, but they could be more forthcoming sometimes. However, it could be cultural because we’re based in Amsterdam, and they’re in the US.

You can move faster if you’re well prepared. In our case, we weren’t ready, so we hired Neuron; they helped us develop our own strategy.
