The original project was focused on implementing a new version of an existing product, including minor improvements to existing designs, all frontend development, and substantial backend development, all including quality assurance testing. The most important deliverable was working code, deployed in the production-ready environment.

A biomechanics company engaged Merixstudio to help them develop a data validation software. The team looked after the UI/UX design, using Next.js to improve upon the provided wireframes.

Merixstudio helped the client build a software that streamlines the data collection and validation process. The team fostered an exceptional engagement, providing high-quality design work at a significantly lower price point. This allowed for more iterations and, ultimately, a better final product.

Biocore is a biomechanics company that does research and consulting. We provide a large portion of our services to organizations that are focused on sports, in particular, those that are in the professional football industry. I am a senior software developer in the company.

We have a product that we are currently in the process of researching and developing. In this case, it is an instrumented mouthguard that will be used by professional and collegiate football players. We hired Merixstudio to build a software that could enable our research team to pull and view data from multiple data streams — or those that are coming from the instrumented mouthguards — and to validate the information we are discovering. Our goal is to detect and determine the impacts on players using that validated data.

Merixstudio started by building the frontend of the software from scratch. One of our requirements was that it be a React-based application, so their team used Next.js. We provided them with some rough wireframes and they went into a design process to improve upon it for usability and a better overall look and feel.

We worked with about 5–6 people. There was a UI/UX lead, a visual designer, a project manager, two developers, and a QA specialist.

I had worked with Merixstudio years ago for a website and software development project. This was for the company that I owned. At that time, I found them through a Google search and started working wi them. I had such a great experience with their team that I decided to include them in our RFP process for this project.

I believe we spent around $113,000.

We formally began working together in April 2021, and the work was completed last August 2021.

In the past, our research team had to undergo a very difficult manual process of pulling and validating data. Thanks to Merixstudio’s involvement, we now have a full-fledged software that only takes 10–15 minutes to complete what was once an hours-long task. It was hugely valuable to our researchers. Back then, we would also need to wait until the end of the season, but now, we can look into the data every week.

Merixstudio was great across the board. Working with them was such a phenomenal experience, which is why we’ve hired them again to do two more projects.

What stood out about Merixstudio in this engagement, as in the last, was the level of quality that we got from their design team. Their output is at a level far above what we would’ve received from the other companies that we considered and worked with. It also stood out how they did everything at an incredibly lower price point. It allowed us to iterate more times to make the software better. We got great value for our investment.

A lot of the areas we initially struggled with were really due to us and not Merixstudio. Off the top of my head, I only have good things to say about their team.

If you have the opportunity and means to meet with Merixstudio in person, do it. Investing in a thorough design process with this team will be totally worth it. Even if you don’t or can’t, though, you are sure to end up at a really great place, just as we have. Star Ratings

Project management was very collaborative. We worked closely and communicated well, which made a huge difference, especially with the time difference.

What impressed me the most: with DevOps was their ability to quickly assess and lay out a plan for a path forward. With development, it was their ability to not work as a siloed team but to be proactive at reading app reviews and identifying gaps in user flows.

The engagement went pretty well. The only issues were on our side with management changes, and this caused priorities to change as well.
