The project encompassed the development and deployment of a custom two layer blockchain architecture and a dedicated chain service focused on decentralized identity and data provenance. Layer 1: Blockchain Infrastructure Layer: This foundational layer was designed to securely store patient records, clinical trial documentation, and consent logs. It ensured immutable timestamping and cryptographic validation of all entries, significantly reducing the risk of data manipulation. Layer 2: Smart Contract Layer: Built atop the infrastructure layer, this component automated critical workflows such as patient consent acquisition, interdepartmental data access requests, and compliance reporting. The smart contracts were customized to align with Canadian healthcare regulations and Oak Valley’s internal protocols. Chain Service: Decentralized Identity Management (DID) Hola Tech integrated a DID solution that allowed patients and healthcare providers to manage identity credentials autonomously. This service was seamlessly embedded into our existing EMR systems and internal portals, enabling secure, user-controlled access to sensitive health data.
