Cheesecake Labs provides full-stack development for our AI platform, Knapsack. Their team handles both frontend (React/Next.js) and backend development, working as an embedded extension of our engineering team. Their technical depth across both frontend and backend, combined with strong communication skills, is rare to find in a dev shop.

The timezone difference between California and Brazil can occasionally slow down real-time collaboration, but they mitigate this well with overlapping hours and async communication practices. It would also be helpful to have more documentation around their internal processes for onboarding new team members to our codebase.

Cheesecake Labs has built the full scaffolding and harness for a foundation LLM that’s comparable to the experience that end users have with popular tools like Claude and ChatGPT. We didn't need to deliver every dream feature all at once, but we had to make consistent progress week over week that was reliable for end users. I’m the founder and CEO of Clip Collective, a startup in the wedding industry. We take video content from guests at weddings and create vertically oriented highlight reels for the couple, aimed to be posted on TikTok, Instagram, and other Gen Z-friendly platforms.

Cheesecake Labs developed a progressive web app and a backend admin portal through Retool. The team provided us with a comprehensive tech stack recommendation, including native and Swift solutions. We began with a discovery phase, and then we moved quickly into development, as per our request, because we wanted to launch in November 2025.

We found them through ChatGPT, which did a deep research project for me and recommended Cheesecake Labs based on our needs. I submitted a contact form on their website, and they promptly responded. Stewart was our initial business contact, and he scheduled a meeting with us to get to know the project and set our expectations if we were to engage in a partnership.

We were very happy with the software and stacks that Cheesecake Labs recommended to us. I had no development knowledge, so I’d say we saved a lot of time because I would have had to learn how to code or hire developers onto the team and get them aligned with the process. Speed was a huge thing for us, and I couldn’t quantify the actual gains we had there.

Cheesecake Labs delivered on time and on budget. They were very clear with us going into development that there was a margin of error. They initially quoted us $150,000 for the actual development, and we ultimately spent around $160,000. We went $10,000 over budget, but they had set our expectations upfront that this might happen.

One of Cheesecake Labs’ main strengths was their speed. Everything they did was fast and effective. Another strength was that even without me being hands-on on the backend, they were able to build everything while I was focused on everything else within the company.

We're a nonprofit organization that advocates for the growth of a public blockchain protocol. Our mission is to enable equitable access to the global financial system. My role is director of product, where I lead enterprise payments.

We needed help with custom blockchain software development.

Cheesecake Labs helped us build a custom smart wallet for our flagship annual event. This product was web-based, and it was the first smart wallet implementation of its kind. It was built to be open-sourced from the beginning, so that all developers in the ecosystem could take the code developed by Cheesecake Labs and our team and use it for their own projects. The features included payments, NFTs, and custom tokens. Cheesecake Labs' work also included front- and backend development.Initially, we had a kick-off call, where we shared our set of requirements, and Cheesecake Labs put together a project plan. The team also assigned resources for each part of the project. After the solution was built, we did in-person testing; it was a joint engineering effort. Before the event, we also had a week of on-site testing. The technology stack included Node.js, React, and TypeScript.

When we launched this product during the event, it was used by over 1,000 people, making the project a complete success. We also had over 10,000 NFTs minted through this product, and thousands of payments were processed during the two days the event lasted. Overall, the quality of Cheesecake Labs' work exceeded our expectations.

The team delivered on time and within budget. We met on a weekly basis and had live communication through Slack. We also used phone calls, Google Meet, and Figma to collaborate.

Cheesecake Labs' ability to take on challenges that no one had faced before was impressive. This was the first implementation of its kind, with many different features on this network. Still, they were able to put everything together into a unified product. Some engineering teams would be scared away by that or take a cautious approach. However, Cheesecake Labs took on the challenge and was very excited about it.

We had some team churn, some of which was outside Cheesecake Labs' control. Still, this issue impacted the timeline a little bit, as we had to do knowledge transfer between team members.

Lean into the relationship and give them as much information as you can. Cheesecake Labs is very good at interpreting ambiguous requirements, so have the conversation with them, and they'll help you figure things out.

The work involves rewriting the existing application in React JS to Flutter, covering all components and functionality. This includes migrating 100% of the current web application components to Flutter, rewriting 90% of the UI components as reusable widgets, and ensuring that the resulting application works across multiple platforms (web and mobile).The project also covers performance objectives, such as maintaining a fast initial load time and ensuring an optimized initial bundle size.
